Memorial day May 26th 2008

What is memoral day
Memorial Day is much more than a three-day weekend that marks the beginning of summer. To many people, especially the nation's thousands of combat veterans, this day, which has a history stretching back all the way to the Civil War, is an important reminder of those who died in the service of their country.
Uncover the interesting history of the holiday we now call Memorial Day. Discover little-known facts about America's Wars and stop by the Veterans Forum message boards to share your views with veterans, their loved ones and fellow history buffs.

Easter is coming

Easter is coming this sunday

Sunday march 23 2008 easter be here
If your don't know what easter is well let me explain

Just what is Easter, why do we celebrate Easter
you may ask, to many it is differnt things. To
Christians it is one of the two most holiest days
that we celebrate.

The celebration of the Easter Season begins with Lent. Lent,a period of fasting and penitence traditionally observed by Christians in preparation for Easter.

The length of the Lenten fast, during which
observants eat sparingly, was established in the 4th century as 40 days. The
40-day period begins on Ash Wednesday and extends, with the omission of Sundays, to the day before Easter.

The observance of fasting or other formsof
self-denial during Lent
varies within Protestant and Anglican churches. These bodies stress penitence. Many just fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. It is a time of preperation and self sacrifice. For Christ sacrificied himself on the cross for us.

Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter Sunday, observed by Christians
in commemoration of Christ's Last Supper.

Jesus was observing the passover sader. The name Good Friday is generally believed to be a corruption of God's Friday. Since the time of the early church, the day has been dedicated to: penance, fasting, and prayer.
It is when we "nail our sins onto the cross"

Easter Sunday, is the celebration of Gods fulfillment of his promise to us.The promise of salvation, through His son, the Risen Christ to all who follow and believe. In the words to a hymn,"He lives, He lives"Christ has conqured death!

Easter is celebrated by some with bunnies and eggs.Theegg is considered as a symbol of rebirth.
Life anew, which Jesus through his death and resurrection has granted us.

Although the use of eggs and bunnies have become symbols of Easter ,but they are not the sole reason or the major focus of Easter.

Remember the cross, the cross that Jesus
was nailed to, suffered on, and died on that we may have life eternal
is the reason for the season

Ascension the departure of Jesus Christ from the earth 40 days after his resurrection from the dead.

Occurring in the presence of the apostles;
Christ was lifted up and a
cloud took him out of their sight. In some New Testament passages (see Mark 16:19-20;
Luke 24:50-51; Acts 1:1-14)
the ascension is represented as an
observed historical fact.
It Centers on the glorification of Christ and its serves as a sign that his earthly mission
had been fulfilled.

The prophicies of
the old testement have been fulfilled through
Jesus, The Messiah!
Let us rejoice and lift up our hearts and voices
and sing our praises unto the Lord,
For He lives,He Lives
